Week Five-Thursday 18th October 2012

In the past few weeks we have been creating movement to our songs so we have not been singing the way we should be; we have been stressing about the movement so much that we have not focused on our singing so this week we did this. In today's lesson, we re-capped on all the movement which we have created so far with the music and then we added to the final bit to it. We performed our pieces to each other about half way through the lesson and we got given feeback for what we are doing well and what we need to improve on for the performance next week. We were told that our movement was there, however we need to characterise it much more because we need to become that character during our performance. We were also told that we need to sing much louder as we were very quiet, so we went back to it and we made sure we knew where we needed to breathe when we were singing. We sorted this so that we did not run out of breath when were in the middle of a line and so that we could elongate the notes that needed it such as the really big notes. We need to make sure we breathe at the right time and in the correct way for us to sing to the best of our ability. We then tried to gain our confidence and with help and guidence we were singing much louder and we were hitting the notes well, which we were not previously hitting. This was a really productive lesson for I and my group as we seemed to have progressed much more in this one lesson than what we have in the past four weeks.
