Lesson Two

This week we quickly sang through 'The Circle of Life' at the beginning of the lesson after the vocal warm-up just so that we all could remember it and keep it in our heads. Then all the characters from scenes 1-4 got taken into a seperate room and started reading through the script whilst everyone else went and learnt the dance for 'Steamboat willy'. Once we had read through the script we began to sructure it and try to put the characterisation into it. I did not perform very well as I was very nervous, especially when everyone came in and watched what we had completed so far. This is all very new to me but I think that once I get into it and know my character, I will be much more confident with performing it and characterising it well. I focused fully throughout the lesson so I was able to get some of my lines stuck in my head so that as soon as I can I will stop using my script because I think this will help me to perform and characterise much better as well due to not having to keep looking down to read my next line. For the next rehearsal I am going to make sure that I rehearse 'The Circle of Life' and also rehearse the first four scenes so that I remember what I am doing from lesson to lesson and I will hopefully become much more confident with it.
